Football commentator Levent Tüzemen claimed that Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen had been instrumental in convincing his international teammate Ademola Lookman to join him at Galatasaray.
Tüzemen made the revelation while discussing Galatasaray’s transfer agenda on the A Spor YouTube channel ahead of the January window.
The current champions of Turkey have been hugely linked to Lookman, who plays his football at Atalanta.
The 28-year-old failed to seal a move away from the Serie A side in the most recent summer transfer window after the club blocked his exit. Lookman reportedly went on strike in response but eventually was brought back into the first team.
According to Tüzemen, “Galatasaray has a serious interest in Lookman.”
He further disclosed that Osimhen has been pushing behind the scenes to help make the deal happen. “Osimhen is the biggest supporter in this transfer. Victor Osimhen convinced Lookman to come to Galatasaray.”
However, Galatasaray must still find an agreement with Atalanta, whose valuation is maintained at a high level. “Galatasaray needs to convince Atalanta. If Galatasaray signs Lookman, it would make all the difference. Atalanta’s asking price is considerable. A sum of €40-50 million is on the table,” he said.
