Cole Palmer Ruled Out of England Squad Due to Injury

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that attacking midfielder Cole Palmer will miss England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia due to injury.

Maresca revealed that Palmer, who was absent from Chelsea’s squad in their 1-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, requires a scan to assess the extent of the issue.

When asked about Palmer’s availability for England, Maresca stated, “Cole Palmer will not play for England; he’s injured. He needs a scan. The scan is planned for Monday… we hope he will be back after the international break, but we will have to see. It’s a muscle problem.”

Palmer’s absence was felt as Chelsea struggled against Arsenal, with Mikel Merino’s first-half goal securing the victory for the Gunners.

The defeat leaves Chelsea in fourth place, though they have played one game more than Newcastle United, who sit in sixth. The Blues will be hoping Palmer recovers in time for their next match against Tottenham Hotspur on 3 April.
