Hannah Reuben will compete in the women’s wrestling freestyle 76kg category on Saturday (today), hoping to rescue Nigeria’s chances of finishing on the podium at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Reuben will face Mongolia’s Davaanasan Enkh-Amar in the quarterfinals.
Nigeria’s hopes of winning a medal in Paris 2024 lay on her shoulders, as 87 other athletes from 12 sports failed to reach the podium.
Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume, Favour Ofili, Blessing Oborodudu, and Odunayo Adekuroye all failed to meet expectations during the ongoing games.
Reuben, rated seventh in the world, is the African champion in her division.
She also won gold at the 2023 World Military Wrestling Championships, establishing herself as a dominant force in her weight class.
