Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has criticized Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, claiming the Nigerian forward struggles to make an impact in high-stakes matches.
The comments come in the wake of Galatasaray’s 2-1 loss to Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. Osimhen played the entire 90 minutes but failed to lift his team as they fell to their rivals in a tightly contested encounter.
Speaking on the Assist Analysis YouTube channel, Engin questioned Osimhen’s value and reliability in decisive moments.
“Osimhen can never come on stage in big matches.
If Osimhen is worth 75 million Euros, I am worth 100 million Euros to Rafa Silva.
When Osimhen stops, Galatasaray stops too. Osimhen needs to regain his form, especially in high-level matches. Very critical matches will be played from now on.”
Osimhen, currently on loan from Napoli, has had an impressive individual season with Galatasaray, contributing 20 goals and 4 assists in 23 league appearances so far. However, his performance against major opponents continues to divide opinion.
His loan deal is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, leaving questions about whether Galatasaray will pursue a permanent transfer.
