Arsenal have approached “10 wide players” as manager Mikel Arteta seeks to strengthen his team ahead of the trade deadline.
The Gunners have signed only one player this summer, Riccardo Calafiori, but an agreement for Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino is nearing completion.
However, Arteta is still trying in the market with an eye on having at least one more forward.
The main target has been Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, but the Spain international is set to stay with the Basque club for at least another season, and it’s reportedly preferring a move to Barcelona next summer.
While Williams would have been a regular starter in Arteta’s team, the Gunners are now in search of a lower-profile, less-expensive winger to bring in as a squad player—the type of thing Leandro Trossard has been over the past year and a half.
