UCL: Arne Slot Admits PSG Were Better Than Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot said Paris Saint-Germain were the superior side when his team played their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg against PSG on Wednesday.

Slot showed no surprise as PSG has quality players in their squad.

Don’t forget the home team had more scoring opportunities against the Reds in Paris.

Nine saves from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker and a man-of-the-match accolade came with the burden.

Becker’s colleague Harvey Elliott scored the lone goal of the match in the 87th minute.

During the post-match interview, Slot asserted that Liverpool got lucky to have defeated PSG.

“Had we got a draw, we would still have been the lucky ones. They were much the better team today,” Slot said.

“It’s a good result for us, but we felt the quality of Paris.

“Every underlying stat shows they were the best side in the Champions League. I wasn’t surprised at how good they were.

“We were not under-par, it was just down to the quality of the opposition. They showed it today. Luis Enrique has created an incredible team here.”
