Al Ittihad striker Karim Benzema has opened up on why he left Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia.
Benzema relocated to the Middle East during the summer of 2023.
In his view, he desired to leave the LaLiga giants on a high note.
Benzema also added that he never wanted to play against Madrid for the rest of his career.
He said: “My decision to go to Saudi Arabia was also because I wanted to leave Real Madrid on top.
“And I didn’t want to ever play against Real Madrid in my life.”
During his time at the Bernabeu, Benzema won five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles.
The 35-year-old also won the coveted Ballon d’Or award.
