Woltemade the Worst EPL Signing – Durham

Adrian Durham, presenter at TalkSPORT, has labeled Nick Woltemade, striker for Newcastle United, as the worst signing in Premier League history.

Woltemade joined Newcastle from Stuttgart for £69 million, intended to replace Alexander Isak, who had left for Liverpool.

The 24-year-old made a promising start, scoring five goals in his first 10 appearances, but his form has dipped, with only one goal in 17 games this year. Recent matches even saw him deployed further back in central midfield.

“Nick Woltemade, I am going to say this that he is the worst signing in Premier League history. This is not anything against him, it is not personal – I hear he is a very good teammate,” Durham said, as quoted by Metro.

He added, “But £65-70 million for one of those, and we have got to delve deeper. I was in Newcastle the other night for the Qarabag game, the tie was done, so it was a chance for players to shine, and it was a night Newcastle had a free hit. Their expensive striker needs goals, and he starts in central midfield.”

Durham’s remarks follow criticism from Alan Shearer, the Newcastle legend, who also expressed concerns about Woltemade’s performance.
