Bayer Leverkusen manager Xavi Alonso believes Arsenal and Liverpool will contend for the Premier League title against Manchester City.
Alonso spoke after his team lost 4-0 against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening.
Arsenal missed out again last season, finishing two points behind City in the title chase.
Mikel Arteta has since added only Riccardo Calafiori to the team.
Calafiori did not play in the game, which was won by goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz.
When asked if Arsenal would fight for the league title again, Alonso responded: “Arsenal for sure, it’s not just last year; they’ve been working on a project, and Mikel is heading a great team at a great club.
“They will undoubtedly face difficulties competing with the larger ones.
“City will be there, Liverpool are coming with other ones as well.”
