Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian actress and singer, has also made it known that she has no intention of signing upcoming artists.
She made this known in an interview with Forbes Africa on Thursday.
For her, dealing with musicians can be extremely challenging. She does not believe she is qualified for the task, citing that musicians are difficult to deal with.
“Everyone always asks me, ‘When will you sign an artiste?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste, because artistes are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then I will wake up and my artist is trending for something else,” she said.
Instead of signing new artists, she would rather provide them with opportunities in other forms.
She is attempting to create a music school where up-and-coming artists can hone their skills before perhaps signing with a record label that can give them the proper support.
“But I do have the gift to help, which is why I am trying to do the music school, where you can go and later sign to a label that can actually help you,” she added.
