Police Arrest Men for Allegedly Transporting Weapons to Kaduna

In the course of a stop-and-search exercise on Asaba-Benin Expressway, Delta State Police Command apprehended a 69-year-old suspect and his 17-year-old accomplice for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The suspects were reportedly moving guns to Kaduna.

According to counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama, police officers from Dragon Patrol Team 02 arrested a navy blue Sharon Space Bus with number plate DKA 408 LM (Kaduna) on the road by the National Open University in Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area.

Seized from the vehicle were seven pump-action guns and 1,600 cartridges concealed under the back seat.

Yahuza Magaji, the prime suspect, allegedly claimed that he was a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). He reportedly confessed to buying the guns in Onitsha, Anambra State, and going ahead to transport them to Kaduna.

The Delta State Police Command has been reassuring the public that the investigation is ongoing, with an effort being made to trace where the guns were bought from and for what.
