Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) deployed in Wase have successfully rescued two kidnapping victims near Kukawa in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, stated that the rescue took place on 22 February 2026 in Mansur village, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to the statement, troops on patrol received intelligence and quickly mobilized to the scene. The bandits reportedly abandoned the victims and fled the area.
The rescued victims, who were reunited with their families after debriefing, had been abducted at gunpoint, the statement added.
Similarly, OPEP troops stationed in Sanga, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, intercepted 36-year-old Vincent Ibrahim, a suspected gunrunner, during stop-and-search operations in Kurmin Goro village.
He was allegedly transporting five fabricated rifles to an undisclosed location in Kafanchan when authorities apprehended him.
