A student of University of Ibadan, UI, whose identity has not been disclosed, has died. The incident occurred on Sunday night.
Sources reported that the student, who was in 300-level at the time, passed away on Sunday.
It was gathered that the student allegedly ingested a substance suspected to be insecticide.
According to sources, the deceased was discovered on the ground floor of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall in an unconscious and distressed state by a fellow student.
It was reported that the student admitted to taking a substance identified as sniper.
He was immediately rushed to the university clinic.
Although the deceased was initially stabilised at the clinic, he was later referred to University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, where he was placed on life support but eventually passed away.
The Public Relations Officer of UCH, Funmi Adetuyibi, confirmed the death on Tuesday.
“Yes, it is true. He was brought to the hospital. He is dead,” she said.
