Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, offered reassurance to law-abiding residents regarding their safety following recent attacks on security agencies in the state.
Speaking on Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Aba, Otti urged people not to succumb to fear or panic in light of these troubling incidents.
The governor attributed these attacks to enemies of the state who oppose the progress under his administration. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to apprehending those responsible for the assaults on security personnel.
Accompanied by senior members of his cabinet, Otti emphasized that Abia State will not tolerate criminal activities and expressed gratitude to the church members for their unwavering support during and after elections.
During the Mass, Rev. Fr. Okechi Kelvin, the guest preacher, acknowledged God’s use of Governor Otti to initiate positive changes in Abia.
Recent incidents included the killing of five Nigerian Army officers at Obikabia junction, Aba, in May 2024, and the murder of two policemen on Opobo road, Aba, last Friday by unidentified perpetrators.
