Abia Transport Commissioner Urges Police, NSCDC Help on Osisioma Road Chaos

Sunny Onwuma, Abia State Commissioner for Transport, has requested the assistance of the State Police Command and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in restoring order along the Osisioma section of the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.

The transport commissioner, who made the appeal during a visit to the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, and the Abia State Commandant of NSCDC, Usman Alfadari, expressed concern that two flanks of the Osisioma axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt road have been taken over by trucks packed with drivers offloading bags of products.

He stated unequivocally that the administration of Governor Alex Otti promotes trade and business but prefers that things be done in an orderly manner.

“If you’re moving to Aba and arrive to the Osisioma crossroads, you’ll notice trailers parked on both sides of the road. You watch people loading themselves. That place has no control.

“We need your help in terms of sending your men to help us control that area in order to avoid a road accident,” Onwuma urged to the police commissioner.

The CP and the NSCDC Commandant each agreed to assist the state administration in restoring order on the route.
