On Monday, 10th March 2025, the Adamawa State Government will begin admitting 10,000 teenagers into the state’s ten technical and training schools.
The training will be carried out by the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, PAWECA, and will include welding, solar installation, tiling, tailoring, and cooking, among other vocation skills.
PAWECA Director-General Dr Michael Zira said so in a press briefing held on Thursday in his office. He called upon all potential applicants to go to the PAWECA desk officer in their own respective local government districts to show their interest and dedication.
“To ensure the inclusion of people at the grassroots level across the 226 wards in the state, PAWECA has sent a notification letter to all ward councillors to sensitise and encourage participation among their constituents,” Zira stated.
Reiterating his commitment to an open and transparent selection process, he claimed that one entrance exam and needs test would be conducted to ascertain quality applicants, to whom three vocational training options would be offered for selection.
But, he further stated, students would be required to pay for their board and lodging so that only staunch individuals can enroll.
The training will go on for three months, six months, or even longer, depending on the course.
