Delta Police Arrest 5 Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Firearms in Ughelli

The Crack Squad attached to Area Command in Ughelli, Delta State, arrested five suspected kidnappers in a brothel and criminal hideout in Ewu on September 12, 2024, about 01:30 am.

The police also recovered one single barrel gun, three locally made cut-to-size firearms, a cash sum of N450,000, one Moniepoint POS machine, one OPAY POS machine, and wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
 
The suspects in custody are Dominic Uweru alias Ovwolo, 48; Isaac Oghenerukevwe aka Plug, 34; Oviri Godstime 25, Junior Sunday and Efedeki Adjovo.

SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the report in a statement signed and distributed to journalists in Warri.

He explained: “They confessed to various armed robbery and kidnapping operations in Ughelli and its environs, including the kidnapping of a 70-year-old woman (name withheld) who they kidnapped on 08/09/2024 and collected a ransom of seven million, nine hundred thousand naira (N7,900,000) on 10/9/2024 before her release.”

Edafe said: “Suspects are in custody, investigation ongoing.
