Eid-el-Fitr: NSCDC Deploys 1,800 Personnel Across Kogi

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,800 personnel in Kogi State to ensure security during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

This was disclosed by the Kogi State NSCDC Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdullahi Aliyu, in a statement issued in Lokoja on Saturday.

Aliyu stated that Kogi State Commandant Esther Akinlade authorized this deployment in alignment with NSCDC Commandant General Ahmed Audi’s directive aimed at maintaining peace and order during the festivities nationwide.

He mentioned that Commandant Akinlade instructed Area Commanders to coordinate security efforts diligently, while Divisional Officers were directed to fully mobilize their personnel.

The Commandant further ordered the deployment of all component Commanders and Special Forces units to provide comprehensive security coverage, protecting the public, critical national assets, and infrastructure.

Aliyu quoted Commandant Akinlade, saying, “Our resolve to guarantee peace, safety and protection of lives and critical assets in synergy with other Security agencies must be carried out through our collective inputs. For these obvious reasons, I have directed all area Commanders, Divisional officers with these responsibilities, therefore everyone must brace up to discharge their responsibilities conscientiously.”

The statement emphasized that formations within the command are mandated to collaborate with community stakeholders, gather actionable intelligence, and conduct thorough surveillance before, during, and after the celebrations to preempt criminal activities.

Personnel deployment focuses on securing prayer grounds, worship centers, recreational venues, motor parks, markets, shopping complexes, black spots, and critical installations, ensuring a peaceful celebration.

“The Commandant extends her felicitation to all Muslim faithfuls in the country and across the world, wishing them a peaceful Eid al-Fitr celebration, just as she prayed to God Almighty for a more peaceful Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
