US President Donald Trump’s top advisor, Elon Musk, has endorsed a US withdrawal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Musk made the announcement in a Sunday post on his X social media platform.
He believes that it doesn’t make sense for America to fund Europe’s defense.
Musk responded to a Sunday post on X that stated the US should “Exit NATO now!”
“We really should,” the Tesla Inc. co-founder and chief executive officer said.
“Doesn’t make sense for America to pay for the defence of Europe.”
Last week, Musk agreed with a suggestion by a right-wing commentator that America withdraw from NATO and the United Nations.
Musk’s comments come as the future of NATO, which will mark its 76th anniversary in April, hangs in the balance.
