Elon Musk, head of the US Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), has offered to deploy his technical team to investigate how Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was mistakenly added to a Signal chat involving senior administration officials.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed Musk’s offer while addressing reporters in the White House briefing room on Wednesday.
“Elon Musk has offered to put his technical experts on this to determine how this number was inadvertently added to the chat,” Leavitt said.
Leavitt emphasized the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that the effort aims to “take responsibility and to ensure that this could never happen again.”
Previously, US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz had unintentionally included Goldberg in a Signal chat intended to discuss planned military strikes against Houthi militants in Yemen, as reported by The Atlantic earlier this month.
