Tensions rose in Minna, Niger State, when police fired shots into the air to disperse #EndBadGovernance protesters on Thursday morning.
To increase the intensity of their demonstration, activists upset with the existing state of administration sought to block the Tunga-Top Medical to City Gate Road with burning tyres.
The police’s prompt response, assisted by the army and other security officers, avoided additional disruption.
The strong presence of security forces in the vicinity and around the state capital ensured that the situation did not worsen.
Following the tragedy, normalcy has resumed, with businesses and regular activities continuing.
