Fulani Youths Clash in Abuja Over Girlfriends

A violent confrontation broke out among Fulani youths in Katampe, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, during the ongoing Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.

The altercation, reportedly sparked by a dispute over girlfriends, led to serious injuries and the hospitalization of two individuals.

The incident was disclosed by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who shared details via his official X handle. He noted that the clash involved the use of dangerous weapons and created panic in the community.

Makama, quoting eyewitness accounts, said the brawl erupted around 7:30 p.m. and quickly escalated.

“Upon receiving the distress call, police patrol teams were swiftly deployed to the scene. The situation was brought under control, and the youths involved fled into the nearby bush,” he stated.

He also revealed that two victims, identified as Isiaka Abubakar and Isiaka Mohammed—both residents of Ruga Katampe—were taken to Jareal Hospital in Mpape for treatment.

“The two injured victims, Isiaka Abubakar and Isiaka Mohammed, both males from Ruga Katampe, were rushed to Jareal Hospital in Mpape for medical attention,” Makama said.

He further noted that such incidents have become disturbingly common during festive periods in the community.

“It was reported that such violent altercations have become a recurring issue on the second day of major celebrations among Fulani youths in the area,” he added.

According to Makama, the Sarkin Fulani and the Ardo of the community have been summoned for a stakeholder meeting with Fulani leaders, scheduled to take place on April 1.
