Peoples Democratic Party’s 2023 presidential contender Atiku Abubakar on Saturday warned against any plot to rig next week’s governorship poll in Edo State.
Atiku warned that Edo is not like Lagos, where the All Progressives Congress, otherwise known as APC, can rig elections.
He spoke in Ekemwan region of Edo State during the grand finale of the PDP governorship campaign rally.
The former Vice President also called on the people in the state to protect their votes against rigging.
“Do you remember four years ago when they were threatening us? They swore they won’t let us win in Edo State.
“But what did we show them? Didn’t we show them that Edo State is not the same as Lagos?
“So, once again we will show them that ‘Edo no be Lagos.’ They cannot steal votes here, therefore protect, defend and escort your votes.
“Ensure your votes are recorded and your results declared; if you do so, Jupiter won’t come to alter your vote.
“You are winning next week, do you agree? ‘Edo no be Lagos”.Atiku said.
Next Saturday, the people of Edo State will go to the polls to elect a new governor of the state.
The contestants believed to be leading in the race for the governorship of the state include Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, APC; and Olumide Akpata of Labour Party, LP.
