At least four individuals lost their lives and two others sustained injuries during a violent attack by a group of armed gunmen at the Ilesha Baruba Motor Park in Kwara State on Easter Monday.
This was revealed by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert with a focus on the Lake Chad region, in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
According to Makama, intelligence sources reported that approximately ten gunmen stormed the area and began shooting indiscriminately at people who were gathered at a local joint around 9:30 p.m.
Among the victims who were killed in the incident were Alhaji Ja’awire, Abduljabar, and Mohammed Nasamu. Three other victims were also confirmed dead, but their identities have yet to be officially disclosed.
“The security forces visited the scene, where the corpses of the victims were taken to Ilesha Baruba Morgue for autopsy, while the injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment,” Makama added.
