Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has stated that he will, in January 2026, make public his choice of favourite successor.
Makinde stated this on Monday during the 11th Omituntun Ramadan lecture, held at the government house arcade in Ibadan.
The grand chief Imam of Ogbomoland, Yunus Teliat, presented the lecture with the title “Benefits of Being a Good Neighbour: An Islamic Perspective.”
Speaking through a Yoruba language interpreter, Makinde thanked Muslim leaders for their endorsements and asked that they continue to pray for his government.
Makinde was joking with famous socialite Abbas Oloko and asked him not to dismantle his billboard in Isale Alfa.
“I’m not yet a lame duck. Please leave my billboard at Isale Alfa.
“In January 2026, we know that political activities will start. I will tell you the picture of the person that will be installed there,” Makinde said.
The governor also called on Muslims to use Ramadan to promote peace and harmony in society, regardless of religious background.”.
