Three people were ambushed and killed in the Dundu community, Kwall District, Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The trio, John Avia, 48, Sunday Vickson, 32, and Peter Vickson, 30, were reportedly attacked on Sunday evening returning from their businesses.
The attack followed a time of incessant burning of dry-season farms within the area, which had added to rising fears of insecurity.
The Plateau State Government, the State Police Command, and Operation Safe Haven (OpSH) could not verify the attack as of this publication.
The Special Adviser to Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Security, Brigadier-General Gakji Shipi, indicated that he had no information about the development, while the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, is yet to speak.
Joseph Yonkpa, the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, who confirmed the fatalities, lamented that there had been a series of ambushes and burning of farms in the area over the past two weeks.
He urged the people to increase their vigilance to prevent further attacks.
