The Jigawa State Ministry of Basic Education has confirmed that all public and private schools across the state will officially resume for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, during a press briefing held at the ministry’s headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.
According to Danzomo, “All public and private schools in Jigawa State are expected to resume academic activities for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday.” He further stated that boarding students are to return on Sunday, April 14, while day students are expected to resume on Monday, April 15.
He emphasized that this resumption marks the final term of the academic year, urging students to use the period wisely to prepare for upcoming final examinations.
Dr. Danzomo called on parents and guardians to ensure their children return to school on the designated dates, assuring them that the state government has made adequate provisions to support effective teaching and learning.
“We have provided all the necessary teaching aids that will facilitate effective teaching and learning in schools,” he noted.
The commissioner also stressed the importance of punctuality and preparedness among teachers, directing that all teachers be present on the first day of resumption to begin lessons immediately.
“We have posted staff across the state to monitor the resumption process and ensure that lessons commence without delay,” he added.
Urging parents to play an active role in their children’s education, Danzomo said that regular attendance and punctuality would help students make the most of the academic term.
“Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children by ensuring they attend school regularly and punctually. This will enable students to maximise the teaching and learning process,” he said.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to upholding quality education standards across both public and private institutions throughout Jigawa State.
