The Kano State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said it would participate in the local government elections slated to hold in the state on October 24.
Abdullahi Abbas, the party’s state chairman, confirmed this on Thursday in Kano.
He added that the party was soon to have its primary elections in order for candidates to emerge for election and expressed optimism in the party’s chances in the polls.
He explained that was because the party was mobilizing its members to vote in all the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
“We are doing all that is humanly possible to ensure that our teeming supporters participate in the election”, the candidate said.
He made the declaration while describing Kano State as the traditional stronghold of progressive politics. “The party’s political machinery was already working to ensure a sure victory.
He called for a level playing field, as he tasked the country’s independent electoral commission to ensure that a hitch-free election is conducted.
He said that his party was committed to free and fair elections.
