National Security is Everyone’s Business – CDS Musa

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, said again that national security remained everybody’s business.

He, therefore, called on all Nigerians to contribute effectively to the success of security forces through the availability of critical information in carrying out their professional duties efficiently.

Gen. Musa said this on Saturday in Abuja while addressing delegates at the 48th Annual National Conference of the Muslim Elders Association of Nigeria.

This was during the 48th Annual National Conference of the Muslim Elders Association of Nigeria, a group founded to propagate peace and brotherliness ideals, education, and humanitarian endeavours.

CDS Musa Underpinned the need to have synergy between the populace and security agencies. According to him, “Security concerns cannot effectively be tackled hand in glove by security organisations single-handedly.”

He posits that “security is everybody’s business; everybody must be involved.” It should not be left to the security agencies solely. People have to give us useful information.

The same view was expressed by the representative of the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Uba Alkali, where he emphasized that everybody should collaborate to effectively ensure security.

He called on everyone to help the police in serving mankind, insisting that security was everybody’s business.

Both officials showed that the current security situation facing Nigeria can only be surmounted through effective community participation and sharing of information and collective response to the menace, wherein the public unites with the security apparatus to ensure a safer and more prosperous nation.
