Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base, FOB Escravos personnel have destroyed three illegal refineries at Delta state.
The sites, located in Obodo in the Omadino riverine community, Warri South West Local Government Area, housed about 3,700 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,600 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) which were stored in five ovens, 12 dug-out pits, and 33 polythene bags.
Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, who is the commander of the operation and Commanding Officer, FOB Escravos, revealed to the media that the operation was carried out after real intelligence had driven the success of the operation in support of ongoing Operation Delta Sanity II.
“The operation further highlights the commitment of FOB Escravos to achieving the objectives of the Strategic Directives of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral E. I. Ogalla, in rooting out all forms of illegal activities within the maritime environment,” he stated.
Okoloagu seized the moment to warn would-be economic saboteurs in the oil industry to stop their illegal act, emphasizing that the base will not hesitate to deny them freedom of action and bring them to court.
He assured that the war against crude oil stealing, pipeline vandalism, and other economic sabotage shall continue to bear fruits.
