The Nigerian Navy has apprehended 27 individuals suspected of drug trafficking during a coordinated operation in Lagos, targeting a known criminal hideout.
The arrests were made during a successful raid conducted by personnel of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft on Saturday, April 5, 2025. The operation took place in Gidan Drama, a notorious enclave located along Malu Road in Apapa.
Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, spokesperson for NNS Beecroft, confirmed the development in a statement released on Wednesday. He said the operation was the result of actionable intelligence aimed at dismantling a suspected drug distribution network.
“The raid was carried out on Saturday, 5 April 2025 by personnel of NNS BEECROFT following credible intelligence received by the Base on the presence of suspected drug peddlers in Gidan Drama which necessitated the deployment of Operation MESA,” he stated.
“During the raid, a total of 27 suspected drug peddlers comprising three females and 24 males were arrested with hard drugs and other illicit substances.”
Lieutenant Ibrahim emphasized the Navy’s continued support in maintaining internal security and tackling illegal activities within its jurisdiction. The operation, he said, highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led raids in curbing crime in Lagos and beyond.
