Plateau and Anambra Hit by Deadly Gunmen Attacks

No fewer than eight people have lost their lives, and several others injured, in Wereng Camp community of Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, following an attack by gunmen.

The assailants invaded the community late Wednesday night, firing indiscriminately.

Sources reveal that many of those killed were children and elderly individuals.

A local source described the attacks as “unprovoked,” also lamenting that the gunmen made away with several food supplies.

Attempts to get confirmation from security agencies proved unsuccessful.

It’s worth recalling that in recent months, armed men have targeted various communities in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Riyom local government areas of the state.

Concerned by these troubling events, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has appealed to the Federal Government to step in.

Meanwhile, in Anambra State, two people were reportedly killed by suspected gunmen.

One victim was in a red saloon car, while the other was shot while trying to flee.

This occurred around 10:45 am near the Agulu-Nanka boundary in Anaocha Local Government Area.

When contacted for confirmation, the state Police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, did not answer his phone, but a senior police officer did confirm the incident.
