Police Arrest Six Suspected Vandals In Jigawa

Six suspected vandals were arrested by the Jigawa Police Command in the state’s Kazaure Local Government Area.

A statement by SP Lawan Shiisu, a public relations officer of the command, on Monday in Dutse stated that an arrest had been made.

Five suspects aged 28 to 53 were apprehended for vandalism, Shiisu said, while another 30-year-old suspect was arrested for receiving stolen goods.

He reported that two suspects were apprehended on February 26 for allegedly vandalizing a streetlight, armored cable wires, and individual conduit service cables at the LG’s Bandutsi ward.

He reported that three other individuals were arrested on February 28 for allegedly trying to vandalize around 2,000 meters of high-tension wire in Faru and Daba villages of the same LG.

In his report, during interrogation, the suspects named Musa Yahaya, a 30-year-old male from Kazaure’s Wajen Gabas area, as an accomplice and receiver of the stolen goods.

The spokesperson of the command claimed that Yahaya was aware that the cable cables belonged to the government and were stolen.

He further stated that the suspects, who allegedly confessed to the crime, have since been arraigned in court.
