Operatives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected scammers, Seyi Demola and Wale Lawson, for allegedly robbing the public.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the arrest in a post on his X (Formerly Twitter) account on Saturday.
According to him, police from the command’s Isokoko Division apprehended the suspects on Saturday.
“The alleged fraudsters were apprehended by officers from the Isokoko Division after a distress call.
“They were found with two female handbags, cash and an iPhone,” he told me.
The PPRO stated that early investigations suggest that numerous people have fallen victim to their plan and that the case is still being investigated.
In the video connected to Hundeyin’s post, a woman describes how she almost fell prey to the suspects’ trickery, emphasizing how one of the suspects, who claimed to be a prophet, approached her for prayers.
“He instructed me and his accomplice, who pretended to be seeking his assistance, to buy sachet water and use it to pray for each other.
“He instructed the man to pray with the water for me and give me his bag to hold,” she told me.
She added that the suspects instructed her not to look back or she would become Lot’s wife in the Bible.
According to her, the suspects were going to mount a motorcycle and flee when they were intercepted, which is when she recognized they knew each other.
