Police Arrest Two Suspected Mobile Phone Thieves In Kano

Two persons suspected to have stolen and sold mobile phones at the Beirut phone market in Kano were arrested by the Kano State Police Command.

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrests in a statement Monday. According to him, one of the suspects, Tasi’u Ibrahim, a Sheka resident, was arrested by market traders after he was accused of attempting to steal a phone from a shop. His colleague, however, escaped with the stolen gear.

Following police investigations, police detectives arrested Abduljabbar Musa Sheka, who is being sought for purchasing and selling stolen mobile phones. The two suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned once the investigation is concluded.

The police have requested owners of shops that have been robbed in a similar manner to report their cases and come forward.

Phone snatching has been an eyesore on Kano’s major markets, with traders continuously calling for higher security.
