The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the assassination of a member of a local vigilante group, Onelga Security Peace and Advisory Committee, or OSPAC, in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Police identified the victim as Prince.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that an investigation is currently underway to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
According to reports, OSPAC members went to a kidnapping distress call only to be ambushed by unknown gunmen, killing Prince.
The incident created terror among the neighborhood.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to an unidentified mortuary as the investigation begins.
