Residents Are Warned By Osun Police About A Motorcycle Stealing Syndicate

Osun State’s commercial motorcycle riders have received a warning to exercise caution when transporting people or hiring their services.

Mohammed Umar Abba, the Osun Command Commissioner of Police, issued the warning in a statement sent by Yemisi Opalola, the spokesman.

As to the statement, the warning was deemed necessary since the Police Command had observed an unsettling pattern of motorcycle snatching in the recent past.

The criminals’ method of operation entails boarding commercial motorcycle riders and enticing them to remote locations late at night. They occasionally use false or alluring prices to entice these riders to travel to unremarkable locations where they risk being attacked and having their bikes stolen.

He said, “In certain cases, the motorcyclists have been killed or seriously injured.”

In order to prevent its members from being victims of the rising crime, CP Abba also instructed the state’s Okada Riders Association leadership to constantly educate and sensitize their membership.

The Command also instructed them to notify the closest police station of any suspicious passengers and their actions.

“The Police Command is working tirelessly to apprehend and prosecute those involved in these heinous crimes, and the CP is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors of Osun State,” the command pledged.
