Reverse Petrol Price Hike – Kwara Union Begs FG

The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, IEDPU, the apex sociocultural organisation of the people of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, has joined other stakeholders across the country to ask the Federal Government to reverse the recently increased price of petrol.

The union stated this in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday, signed by its national publicity secretary Nurudeen Ibrahim, adding that reversal of increase in gas price was a realistic step that would begin to recover the dwindling hopes of the ordinary man.

The labour organisation said: “The man on the street is getting hungrier, angrier, and frustrated by the increasing costs of goods and services occasioned by the adjustment in the price of petrol.”

There was an unexpected and unreasonable increase in the price of petrol from the pump, according to the statement, particularly when the much-awaited Dangote refinery was ready to unleash its products into the market.

They made it clear that every public policy must have the security and welfare of the people as its bottom line and that the federal government’s policy on gasoline pump price must be revisited and reworked in the interest of the masses.
