The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has directed the Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) across the state’s 23 local government areas to submit comprehensive reports detailing their councils’ activities.
This instruction was contained in a letter dated March 24, 2025, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Itong Awani.
According to the directive, the HLGAs, originally appointed by the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, are required to forward their reports directly to the Permanent Secretary.
The requested information includes the councils’ functions, the number of staff on the nominal roll, revenue sources, and other pertinent details.
The letter explicitly stated that all HLGAs must submit their reports no later than Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
