The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nana Kashim Shettima and wives of state governors have donated the sum of N500 million to alleviate the suffering of victims of floods in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State and other environs.
Mrs. Tinubu, who was represented by Nana Shettima, had on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, Maiduguri. She said she was saddened by the dreadful flood which she described as “an act of God.”
“My condolence to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and the people of Borno. “Only God can compensate for their losses,” she explained.
Governor Zulum met the delegation that included wife of the Deputy Senate President and wife of the Lagos State Governor.
She condoled, “As Muslims, we thank God, knowing that whatever happens is from Him,” and prayed God to intervene to avert flood disaster in subsequent years.
He also led the same delegation to Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai Al-amin Elkanemi, to condole the monarch over flood that destroyed his palace.
