President Bola Tinubu expressed that he was utterly distressed upon being informed of the destructive damage to communities and farmlands by flooding across much of the country.
Flooding has killed many, destroyed thousands of hectares of crops, and displaced thousands of Nigerians across the country according to the latest figures from the National Emergency Management Agency – NEMA.
The Head of State took the opportunity to convey his message of condolences to all victims of the wrath of nature: the bereaved families, farmers, the displaced communities, and property owners alike.
He said efforts to address existential environmental challenges demand collaboration in building a more climate-resilient and adaptive society.
“The President prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased, while re-assuring Nigerians that his administration, through relevant agencies, would continue to provide the needed support for victims and timely warnings to mitigate the impact of environmental mishaps,” said Ajuri Ngelale, Media Assistant to Tinubu.
