On Sunday, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu declared that violence had no place in democracy.
Tinubu condemned the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.
Tinubu stated on his own verified X Twitter that Nigeria is in solidarity with Trump.
According to Tinubu, “the attack on former President Donald Trump is disgusting and goes beyond the pale of democratic norms.” Violence has no place in a democracy.
“I send my condolences to the former President and wish him relief. I also extend my condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured, and wish them a speedy recovery.
“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States of America at this time.”
A 20-year-old boy attempted to assassinate Trump during his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
The shooter was instantly killed by Secret Service officials on the scene, after Trump narrowly escaped death when the bullet struck him in the ear.
