President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the names of the North West Development Commission, NWDC, initial Governing Board members to the Senate for confirmation.
Nominees for NWDC Governing Board, which the President, sent to the Senate include :
Chairman: Ambassador Haruna Ginsau (Jigawa)
MD/CEO: Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji (Kano)
Members: Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto); Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi); Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara); Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna); Hon. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano); Shamsu Sule (Katsina); and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).
This development follows a bill recently signed by President Tinubu, sponsored by the Deputy President of the Senate Barau Jibrin to fast-track developments in the North West geographical zone comprising Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara states.
The North-West Development Commission was established to help the rehabilitation of roads, housing, and commercial premises destroyed by multifaceted crises besides addressing poverty and literacy levels, ecological issues, and all other relevant environmental or development concerns in North-West states.
