On Thursday, the Nigerian Army said that forces assigned for counter-terrorism operations in Kaduna State had neutralised one terrorist.
The bandits were on their way to wreak havoc in Mallum Forest when the army intercepted them and seized their weapons and ammunition.
According to a statement on its social media channel, the troops, acting on genuine intelligence, strategically positioned themselves along the terrorists’ axis of travel.
When they saw the terrorists on motorcycles emerging from Mallum Forest via an alternate route, they engaged them with heavy fire, killing one while the others fled in disarray into the nearby forest, thwarting their nefarious mission and preventing a potential attack on innocent civilians.
According to the statement, the troops discovered one AK-47 rifle, five AK-47 rifle magazines, 18 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 19 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, two motorcycles, one Techno phone, head warmers, face masks, and a magazine jacket.
“Currently, the troops have intensified their presence in the general area to maintain security and prevent any further threats.”
