The FG said verification was done on Sunday, stating that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had delivered 50 tonnes of humanitarian assistance to Nigerians that had been devastated by flooding lately.
This relief was ordered by his Highness, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Al Nahyan, as a clear manifestation of his country’s commitment to all countries plagued by natural disasters,” said the Ambassador, Salem Alshamsi at the presentation of the relief materials at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Present to receive the supplies were top officials of NEMA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser, all for the benefit of the flood victims.
The director-general of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, thanked the UAE for the gesture and assured that the multi-million worth of relief supplies would give an added impetus to the Federal Government’s effort toward assisting the flood victims get back on their feet.
Ahmed Dunoma, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu while citing the close relationship between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates:.
