Two passengers in a Toyota Camry with the registration number Delta 01A – 75 DT were shot dead by Unknown Gunmen on Tuesday on the Old Anwai Road in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.
The car was heading towards the Government House, about 300 yards away, when it was attacked at the Bridge Radio Station.
No reason had so far been given for the attack, while the identities of the attackers were not yet made known.
Witnesses were seen rushing the seriously injured victims to a nearby hospital.
This will be recalled that the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwobda, had earlier assured members of the public of increased and aggressive policing during the ’ember’ months.
“As you are aware, we are now in the ember months and the command is aware of the likely upsurge in crime within this periods, hence an operation order has been issued to all Area commanders, DPOS and Tactical commanders.
“There will be increased visibility policing, raiding of black spots and criminal hideout across the 25 local government areas in the state.
“I also wish to encourage members of the public to trust and always report incidences to the police, as this goes a long way in fighting and checkmating the activities of criminals”, he stated.
