We Continue To Be On Strike – NLC

According to their declaration, the Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, is still on strike.

To determine on the outcome of the meeting with the federal government, NLC announced that its organs will convene.

“Until we hear from Our Organs at our Meeting scheduled for today, June 4th, we are still on strike,” NLC stated in a post on X (Formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

A potential settlement between the Federal Government and organized labor was reached on Monday.

On Monday, organized labor began an indefinite walkout in support of a better compensation package for employees.

The strike prompted a meeting in Abuja between labor groups and Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

It was decided at the conclusion of the meeting that “The Leadership of the National Assembly intervened on June 2, 2024, in response to the negotiations by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage (NMW) and subsequent withdrawal of Labor from negotiation.” On Monday, June 3, 2024, the Organised Labour called a statewide strike in order to press its demands.

at order to put an end to the strike action, the Federal Government called a meeting with Labor on Monday, June 3, at the Government of the Federation Secretary’s office, in the interest of the country.

“The Federal Republic of Nigeria, through the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, is dedicated to establishing a National Minimum Wage exceeding N60,000.”
