Zelenskyy Hopes U.S. Pressure on Russia Could Spur Ramadan Peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed hope that if the United States applies enough pressure on Russia, the ongoing war could move towards resolution during the Ramadan season.

Zelenskyy shared this sentiment in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, shortly after participating in Iftar.

He highlighted that Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts, alongside those of its allies, have aligned with Ramadan, a period symbolizing peace and reflection.

Reflecting on recent diplomatic engagements, the Ukrainian president recalled a significant meeting between Ukrainian and American diplomatic representatives, which took place “in a Muslim country,” providing a strategic platform to discuss pathways to restoring peace.

“And it could turn out that if the pressure from the United States on Russia is sufficient, a real opportunity will emerge during Ramadan to begin taking strong diplomatic steps towards peace, to start developing a plan for truly ending the war and guaranteeing security,” Zelenskyy stated.

Expressing gratitude for international support, he emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to peace efforts.

“We in Ukraine hope that these international efforts will succeed and that silence in the skies, at sea, and on the frontlines will help bring peace closer. We are grateful to all our partners who support us,” Zelenskyy added.
