Zulum Calls for Piety, Tolerance During Ramadan

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has urged Muslim faithful to adopt the attributes of piety, mercy, and moderation as enshrined in the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet, PBUH.

Governor Zulum’s Media Aide, Dauda Iliya, in a statement, said the Governor made the charge on Sunday during the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Annual Ramadan Lecture on the university campus in Ile-Ife.

Zulum, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, pointed out the ideals of Ramadan as being significantly instrumental towards the formation of a robust, patriotic, and humane citizenship in Nigeria.

He urged Muslims to be prayerful, patriotic, and patient throughout the holy month, and also asked them to preach religious tolerance, seek humanitarian courses, and conduct themselves as good ambassadors of Islam, making friends and understanding with other religious groups.

Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Zulum, on behalf of the Borno State government and people, donated N50 million towards encouraging philanthropic activities, fraternity, and communal harmony among the OAU Muslim community.
