Lookman Hits 50th Serie A Goal as Atalanta Crush Juventus 4-0

Ademola Lookman scored his 50th Serie A goals as Atalanta thumped Juventus 4-0 at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Lookman was instrumental in the rout, rounding off a comprehensive victory with a well-taken goal that guaranteed a commanding victory for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team in the race for third.

The Nigerian striker was a pain for the Juventus defense, almost scoring twice during the first half—first by seeing a deflected shot come off the post, and then by forcing Michele Di Gregorio to make a desperation save moments later.

Mateo Retegui’s 35th-minute penalty gave Partenopei the lead after Weston McKennie’s handling of the ball within the box.

Marten de Roon added the margin in the opening stages of the second half from a rebound following Lookman’s powerful drive was first saved by the Juve goalkeeper.

Lookman continued to trouble Thiago Motta’s side, featuring in Atalanta’s third goal, scored by Davide Zappacosta following an exquisite one-two with Sead Kolasinac.

The former Leicester City player then added the finishing touches in the 75th minute, capitalizing on the error of Dusan Vlahovic in midfield to break clear on goal.

His shot found a slight deflection, leaving Di Gregorio exposed and sending sections of the Juventus supporters racing for the exits.

Juventus were unable to react, as Marco Carnesecchi denied McKennie late on in order to keep Atalanta’s clean sheet and earn a vital three points in the fight for Champions League qualification.
